The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, known as the Continental Divide Trail (CDT), is a United States National Scenic Trail with a length measured by the Continental Divide Trail Coalition of 3,028 miles between the U.S. border with Chihuahua, Mexico and the border with Alberta, Canada.

It is part of the Triple Crown for hikers.

During his recent yearlong sabbatical, Daniel Laughlin led a study that found trees can sustain life in temperatures higher or lower than where they are currently growing.

Seeing the Stars

One of the great things about Carbon County is looking up at the sky and seeing the stars clearly at night. It is almost magical how they twinkle and shine against the dark sky.

This magic is not seen by all who live in the USA. Some places like Chicago and northern Indiana are lucky to see just a few stars in the sky above. Pollution and haze obscures much.

After 11 Years, Longest-Migrating Mule Deer Dies in Wyoming’s Red Desert

A Wyoming mule deer that migrated farther than any other deer known to science has died. Deer 255’s life of migrations ended in the Red Desert of Wyoming, about 200 miles from her most recent summer range in Jackson Hole. She was 10 years and 10 months old.
