Driving in Carbon County at night can be treacherous due to wildlife. Deer, pronghorn and elk must always be looked for on the side of the road. Due to their size, it is hoped they will be seen before hitting them.

Another creature, not as large but capable of doing damage to a vehicle, is the jackrabbit.
