Residents have found a new hub for intellectual exchange and community bonding akin to the globally recognized TED Talks in Saratoga. Enter “Tuesday Talks,” an initiative spearheaded by local resident Leslie Johnson, aiming to cultivate knowledge-sharing and camaraderie among seniors and curious minds alike.

RNB State Bank generously presented the Saratoga Senior Center with a check for $452 on March 15th. The funds were raised through RNB’s initiative allowing employees to wear jeans on the first Tuesday of each month, with participants contributing a fee.

During the week of March 5, the Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD2) showed its appreciation for first responders by offering an excellent blueberry pancake breakfast at the different schools throughout the district.

The Hanna Volunteer Fire Department had a fundraiser on March 11 at 5;30 p.m. at the Hanna Fire Station.

The firefighters had pancakes and sausage off the grill. It was a breakfast dinner. It was free to the public but donations were accepted.

The fundraiser on this day, Hanna Fire Chief Mark Kostovny said, was for the community.

Emily Study, a Veterans Services Officer with the Wyoming Military Department, visits Carbon County a couple times a month.

She serves Carbon County and Albany County.

Study went to Hanna for the first time on February 21 to the Recreation Center to help veterans with any questions they might have.

Frances and Janice Bergquist have been photographing wildlife, particularly birds since Janice gave Frances his first camera for Christmas not long after they were married. It’s a journey they have undertaken together and have also shared with their sons.

Elizabeth (Lizzie) S. Larain Kritzmacher Mueller,  a 71-year-old Saratoga resident is reaching out to the community for support in her time of need. She has led a life marked by both triumph and tragedy.

Longtime rock hounds and local natives John Moore, Jack Wieburg and Janice White were on hand to share their love of rock hounding with Tuesday Talk attendees.

It is a hobby that has become an obsession for all three, although their interests are focused differently.
