The Fossil Cabin Museum near Como Bluff and only a few miles outside the town of Medicine Bow finally has new hope of being moved to the Medicine Bow Museum thanks to the efforts of Discover Carbon County, after years of being on hold.

CJ Box, the bestselling author of the Joe Pickett mystery series, once again generously volunteered his time for a book signing at the Saratoga Museum on May 4th to promote his latest novel, Three Inch Teeth. Enthusiastic fans had the opportunity to procure the book at the museum’s gift shop during the event.

The Pony Express came to the Hanna Basin Museum, when the director of the museum, Gerry Hutchen educated a half dozen young ones on what it was, on Tuesday, March 26, at around 1 p.m.

It was ten years before Ada Bouril Jackson traveled abroad. She went back to her new home in Saratoga. She bought a house that was known locally as “The Mouse House.” She worked at Old Baldy Club as a waitress. Ada took much of her spare time out on the prairie and up in the mountains discovering the rich local history and deep time history of Southern Wyoming and Colorado.

Sometimes the business of cataloging a museum’s collection, there comes a time when you meet a hero across space and time. One of the most interesting people I have met since volunteering and working in the Saratoga Museum is the Archaeologist Ada Bouril-Jackson.
