Dick Perue of Saratoga has been awarded the 2024 Mable Brown Award for Cumulative Contribution due to his lifelong dedication to preserving and promoting the Platte Valley, Carbon County and Wyoming’s rich history. The award recognizes a living Wyoming resident for their extensive contributions to the understanding and awareness of the state’s history.

The Fossil Cabin Museum near Como Bluff, only a few miles outside the town of Medicine Bow, is getting much closer to its new home at the Medicine Bow Museum. 

Thanks to the efforts of Discover Carbon County (DCC), after years of being on hold according to the former Director of the Medicine Bow Museum, Sharon Biamon.

On September 28 in the afternoon of a beautiful fall day, the Hanna Basin Museum had New York Times bestseller C.J. Box come to meet northern Carbon County residents and sign books, including his newest, “Three Inch Teeth”.

The Hanna Basin Museum saw a piece of history return from the Saratoga Airport after some years of trying.

A cannon put together in a Hanna machine shop was incorrectly identified as a cannon from the days of Ft. Halleck.

The controversy goes back decades.

Near the Continental Divide, about 35 miles southwest of Rawlins, a Union Pacific dragline operator was excavating for the railroad. As the bulldozer dug into the earth, a creature emerged from the dusty soil. The beast laid there for over 11,000 years.
