Fair Parade Honors a Century of Carbon County Tradition

Warm temperatures did little to keep spectators away as hundreds lined the streets of downtown Rawlins on August 1 for the Carbon County Fair Parade, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Carbon County Fair & Rodeo.

Long before sunrise each morning, thin ribbons of blue smoke curled above rows of canvas tents behind the Grand Encampment Museum. Cast iron coffee pots simmered over open fires. The smell of wood smoke drifted through camp as men and women dressed in buckskins, homespun shirts and prairie dresses prepared for another day of living history.

Rawlins Chamber Brings Back Cow Plop

On Saturday, August 1, the Carbon County Fair Parade will start at 10 a.m. It will not be the only tradition happening around that time.

The Rawlins Chamber is putting on the 25th Annual Cow Plop at the Tractor Supply Company store in Rawlins.

The Cow Plop will officially start at 10 a.m.

The Parco/Sinclair Theater had another free concert on Saturday, July 18 at 6 p.m. with an artist from Japan. Hiroya Tsukamoto came to Sinclair by way of the Rawlins Music Academy (RMA). 

Damein Cesko, the director of the RMA was at the historic theater to introduce Tsukamoto, who had played for the Academy in prior years.
