A major gift from the Wold Foundation to the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources (SER) will enhance the educational opportunities for UW students and to support its long legacy of serving Wyoming’s oil and gas sector.

The $225,000 contribution is doubled by the state of Wyoming’s matching program to create the Wold Foundation Oil and Gas Student Success Fund.

Frank Arce and Charli Hetherington work at Rawlins Middle School (RMS) and this year, they are PE teachers; very good PE teachers. So much so, they both have been picked, in back to back years, as “PE Teachers of the Year” for the State of Wyoming.

Arce won the title last year in 2023.

The University of Wyoming’s fourth annual Ranch Management and Agricultural Leadership (RMAL) Seminar Series begins Thursday, February 6, at Central Wyoming College in Riverton.

The UW College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources will host three seminars throughout the state this spring, culminating in an all-day symposium about ranching stewardship in Laramie.

Charles Hoskinson, the co-founder and CEO of Input Output Global (IOG), will be the featured speaker to kick off the first Wyoming Blockchain Stampede Speaker Series program Friday, Jan. 31, at the University of Wyoming. He will discuss the future of blockchain technology, digital assets and the opportunities they present for the state of Wyoming.

Noah Farthing gave a concert to his fellow classmates at Hanna Elementary School (HES) classmates that truly rocked the house on January 15 just before the bell rang to let the students go home. HES staff and Carbon County School District No 2 Superintendent Darrin Jennings were enthusiastic with their support as the students. Noah fist pumped and set off a chain reaction that had most students jump up and start dancing. A rock star might have just been born that day.

Hanna Elementary School (HES) students had a busy time based on Christmas just before the holidays. On December 17, the HES school gave their annual Christmas show which delights the whole community. Music teacher Kit Felton has all the students involved in the Christmas show which is always original with songs and plotline.

Ranelle Hindman, the FFA teacher at Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow came up with an idea to help young children pick out presents for their families. 

“We actually did it for the first time last year,” Hindman said. “My whole idea was to let kids shop for their parents, because how often do kids get to do that, without their parents being around?”
