The “Dog Days of Summer” have arrived.

In the form of a hot dog, that is, to be served when folks next “gather at the table” Monday, August 4th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.,  for the monthly free meal, fun, fellowship and a visit with friends and family in the Fellowship Hall of the Saratoga Presbyterian Church at the corner of Bridge and 3rd.

The dedication Sunday of a new, more appropriate monument at “Shively Field” of the Saratoga Airport prompted this writer to search his files and dig out a “Saratoga Chips” column written years ago concerning a World War II hero and his last flight home.

Don Mayfield, a Korean Veteran, was invited to Washington D.C. to attend a ceremony honoring veterans who have served in wars from the past. Mayfield was the only Korean Veteran from Wyoming who attended. 

He flew out of Loveland, April 20, but not before he was at a ranch where a General spoke to the men going to the Nation’s capital for the ceremony.

City of Rawlin

The City of Rawlins invites all residents to come together for a Community Clean-Up Evening on Wednesday, July 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rotary Park Pavilion (located at North Higley and East Cedar, near Pizza Hut and Bomgaars).

First Presbyterian Church of Saratoga 

“Do, Lord, Do Remember Me” was the hymn that rang out at the First Presbyterian Church of Saratoga during a recent Sunday morning worship.

Members of the congregation sang not only for their souls and salvation, but in remembrance of the first 135 years of Saratoga’s second oldest church, which was established July 10, 1890.

Coming up is a day when people can support their favorite nonprofits and make a real difference. The 6th Annual WyoGives will take place on Wednesday, July 16, running from midnight to midnight. The WyoGives website will accept donations until 11:59 p.m. that day.

McCoy Puckett is 10 years old and a go-kart racer out of Rawlins.

“My great-grandfather used to drag race, so that is what made me want to do this,” McCoy said. “Also watching it on TV.”

McCoy said his parents are supportive of his desire to race.

The past 135 years of worship of our Lord in the First Presbyterian Church of Saratoga will be observed when the Deacons host a birthday party Sunday, July 13th, in the sanctuary at the corner of Third and Bridge Sts.

There had been concern in the town of Hanna that the traditional King Coal Days celebration was going to disappear with the closure of the Hanna Recreation Center, since quite a lot of the event took place there. This cannot happen since there is no water available.
