“I have been sewing since I was in 4-H in Hot Springs County, where Thermopolis is,” Stormie Williams, owner and founder of Prairie Storm Quilt Shop said. “I have loved sewing since then and I am thankful for 4-H. It is a club great for all kids.”

The nine-year-old in 4-H also used to sit with her mother sewing.

There are two stores in Carbon County doing similar things to help kids get ready for the holidays.

In Saratoga, at Bridge Street Bargains on December 11, every kid that comes into the store will be given the opportunity to purchase one Christmas gift for someone they love for $1. Bridge Street Bargains is a place where many high-end items are donated from the community.

Considering there are 10 municipalities in Carbon County and 49 restaurants according to Discover Carbon County, Asian restaurants make up a very small percentage. There are three. Going back three months, there were only two, but with the advent of Chen’s Garden opening up, there are now three. All of them are in Rawlins.

Sinclair Parks and Recreation Director had a surprise when he went to the Wyoming Recreation and Parks Association (WRPA) conference this year. Monte Thayer, Sinclair’s Parks and Recreation Director, has been a part of the association from when he was Recreation and Parks Director of Rawlins. Thayer estimates he has been working in the recreation profession for about 15 years.

The Medicine Bow Food Pantry just moved to a larger location from its site at the Medicine Bow Community Center and had its grand opening on October 25. Lucinda Schofield, the director of the Medicine Bow Food Bank started to look for other possible locations in town to expand several months ago. Schofield thought she found one, but wasn’t sure if it was available.

Jezria Latham has been working in real estate since she was five years old and her mother got her Realtor license in 1987.

When most kids are graduating from high school and deciding what to do with their future, Latham bought her first house and got her Realtor license at age 18.
