One hundred outstanding high school seniors from across Wyoming have been selected to receive the 2024 Trustees’ Scholars Award, the University of Wyoming’s top academic scholarship.

Mackenzie Priest was chosen out of an original list of 1,000 students who were vying for a Trustees’ Scholar Award offered by the University of Wyoming. Out of the 1,000, the list was winnowed down to 118.

UW Archaeology Professor Discovers Oldest Known Bead in the Americas

University of Wyoming archaeology Professor Todd Surovell and his team of collaborators have discovered a tube-shaped bead made of bone that is about 12,940 years old.

The bead, found at the La Prele Mammoth site in Converse County, is the oldest known bead in the Americas.

The Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) Middle/High School got a lift in several ways on Monday morning, February 12, when Rose Vaughn, manager of the Hanna branch of RNB State Bank, gave a check from RNB for $600 to purchase a big screen TV for the commons area of the school.

University of Wyoming Fall Semester Dean’s and Dean’s Freshman Honor Rolls

The University of Wyoming lists 29 students from Carbon County on the 2023 fall semester academic Dean’s and Dean’s Freshman Honor Rolls. The honor rolls consist of regularly enrolled undergraduates above freshman standing who earned a 3.4 or better grade-point average, and freshmen who have earned a 3.25 or better grade-point average.

To be eligible, students must have been enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours taken for letter grades.

University of Wyoming Fall Semester Provost’s Honor Roll

The University of Wyoming lists seven students from Carbon County on the 2023 fall semester Provost’s Honor Roll.

The Provost’s Honor Roll consists of undergraduates who have completed at least six but fewer than 12 hours with a minimum 3.5 grade-point average for the semester.
