Little Snake River Valley resident Eamon O’Toole announced his candidacy to represent Wyoming House District 47. O’Toole hopes to fill the seat being vacated by Representative Bob Davis, who plans to run for the District 11 Senate seat. O’Toole is a Republican.

Commissioners Hear Plea as Library System Faces Major Deficit

Jenita Calton, interim director for Carbon County Library System, went before the Carbon County Commissioners on March 17 to put forth a presentation showing the straits the library system was in because of the funding cuts that occurred due to a shortfall the County had because of the property tax cuts for residents. This caused a deficit of approximately $500,000.

Detailed financial reports, infrastructure updates and community concerns highlighted the Encampment Town Council’s regular meeting March 12 at Town Hall.

Mayor Shannon Fagan presided, joined by council members Stas Banach, Ashley McKinney, Susan Munson and Steve Reichert, along with town staff and several members of the public.

Medicine Bow Takes Care of Penny Problem

The Medicine Bow Town Council met at 6 p.m. on March 9 at the Medicine Bow Community Center. Those present were Mayor Justin George, and council members: Trevor Strauch, Lee Cook, Crystal Mayfield, and Kristi Wickizer.

The Council approved the agenda and financials and then went into executive session, which lasted until 6:20 p.m.

The Budget Session has been a difficult one, as we continue to disagree on policies and pay for the hardworking people of Wyoming and cuts to the agencies from the “NO” group.
