Memorial Day celebrations in northern Carbon County started with a Memorial ceremony starting at 10 a.m., at a barn on the Palm Ranch. This historical barn is about seven miles from the ghost town of Carbon and its cemetery.

The barn was chosen as the site of the ceremony because the weather had been calling for rain, and the road to the Carbon Cemetery can get messy.
