Nonprofit brings joy and mobility to Wyoming seniors

One of the worst Wyoming catastrophes occurred in Hanna on June 30, 1903. The Number One Mine exploded and the exact death toll was unknown at the time of incident. 

There had been one death due to an explosion in 1890 at the Number One Mine, so miners were aware of the danger, but nobody had been prepared for this tragedy.

Medicine Bow United Methodist Church

Nestled within the small town of Medicine Bow, Wyoming sits a church filled with history. The Medicine Bow United Methodist Church was built in the 1960s, with a fellowship hall alongside it that was once the town’s elementary school. Inside the church, you’ll find a wood plank vaulted ceiling and gorgeous stained glass windows that were paid for by former town residents.

When long-time Medicine Bow resident Jeanette Fisher found her sight failing she knew her life had to change to some degree. She is still independent but driving was impossible and Fisher felt it would be better if she went to live in an assisted living home. She picked Regency Retirement Residence, an assisted living facility located in Laramie.

This past weekend there was a Baptist Church revival in Medicine Bow at the Wind City Baptist Church. It was a three-day event that had music, fun, food and prayer.

This is the 4th annual revival for the church.

It all began with a single white German Shepherd dog. Theresa Ramsey, a compassionate Saratoga resident, stumbled upon a Facebook post shared by the police department, showcasing an abandoned dog.

Wyoming Hunger Initiative

First Lady Jennie Gordon’s Wyoming Hunger Initiative allocated $193,812 this summer to anti-hunger organizations for infrastructure needs through the Initiative’s fifth grant cycle since launching in October 2019.

Rev. Bruce Clapham, an incardinated priest of the Diocese of Cheyenne, was officially installed as Pastor of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Saratoga and St. Joseph’s in Hanna on August 11 by Rock Springs Dean, the Very Reverend Bill Hill.
