A Gift to Memorial Hospital

The Memorial Hospital of Carbon County (MHCC) had a bit of good luck according to Stephanie Hinkle, Director of Strategic Operations, Foundation Executive Director of MHCC, when Kristel Lessard inquired if there were any internal medicine positions available.

“This just doesn’t happen,” Hinkle said. “It is like a gift.”

Medicine Bow Clinic Unveils New Sign

The Medicine Bow Clinic celebrated on May 3 to unveil the new metal sign created by local resident Tim Heward. There were refreshments for the ceremony and although the wind was blowing strongly, it did not deter the sign’s presentation by the clinic’s board and staff.

A new medical professional has come to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County (MHCC) who specializes in wound care.

Sophie Baxter has extensive experience in this field of medicine although she said when she was younger, her goal was to be a veterinarian. After she worked in an animal rescue, Baxter had her heart broken too many times to make it a career.

Julie Freeman came from Texas to work at a clinic in Northern Carbon County.  She bought a home in Hanna sight unseen and packed up a trailer. She left behind her 37-acre ranch and headed north.

Julie Freeman replaced Peggy Lake, who was the medical provider for the Hanna Clinic until mid-December.

Medicine Bow Clinic bids Lake goodbye

Carey Lake has been the nurse practitioner and general care practitioner at the Medicine Bow Health Center since the end of 2021.

He took the job thinking he would be there forever. Hanna, Wyoming was where he and his wife Peggy, planned to retire.

It was not to be.
