The Historic Elk Mountain Hotel stepped back a century in time on July 25th, transforming into a 1920s-style speakeasy. The ticketed evening brought community members together in support of local history, with a direct mission to benefit the Hanna Basin Museum.

Bobbie Herman is a rancher who lives a little ways from downtown Elk Mountain. She grew up on a ranch and has known this way of life since she was small. She is known for her work on the Carbon County Fair Board and is respected for her knowledge of ranching life.

There has been excitement in Medicine Bow since the arrival of the Fossil House that came to the Medicine Bow Museum grounds in early May. The Fossil House made the trip from its location about nine miles outside of Medicine Bow heading towards Laramie unscathed.

On April 11 at the Hanna Basin Museum, those who visited got a treat from reenactors from the Platte Bridge Company based out of Casper.

The event was brought to the Hanna Basin Museum by Larry and Jane Benjamin. Jane is one of the founders of Platte Bridge Company, when she lived in Casper.

Tom Mensik, Carbon County Museum Director, has been looking at options for the two Carbon County Museums located in Rawlins to work together in a closer union.

The Old Penitentiary is one of the largest draws for visitors in the town. It has large grounds and is a masterpiece of large Western architecture. It is hard to miss Walnut Street.
