It is not as common as it once was to have homemade treats. Grabbing a box mix for cakes and brownies at the grocery store, especially when there are so many varieties available, has become the norm. 

The first cake mix was Betty Crocker’s Ginger Cake mix in 1947. Brownies, however, have been around much longer.
