Hanna has enjoyed some recent cottage industries springing up in the past year or so where residents can have baked goods or pizza. Now there is another business called Rose’s Tasty Creations. 

Rose Auld was born in Wyoming, but her family moved to California when she was young.

The Carbon County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) annual meeting and fundraiser was a tremendous success, not only because it was sold out, but also because the attendees had an excellent time. It was held in the Platte Valley Community Center in Saratoga.

Saratoga will soon be in for a treat, Lollypops has been purchased by new owner, Kenny Walters. He hopes to open the business toward the end of the month but like any new business, it takes time. In a perfect world, Walters said jokingly he would have liked to have been open two weeks ago.

“We just wrapped up our 5th Annual Foundation Fun Scramble Calcutta,” Stephanie Hinckle, Marketing, Communications and Foundation Director, for Memorial Hospital of Carbon County (MHCC) commented. “It is our primary fundraiser through the MHCC foundation which is a 5013C, which has a separate board from the board of trustees. The foundation is a mechanism to help raise funds.

Not Glue Horse Rescue, Inc. (NGHRI), a non-profit based in Medicine Bow, has just started its mission to rescue, re-home or offer sanctuary to horses who have been abused, abandoned, and or neglected.

On August 5th, Classic Air hosted a fantastic event marking their 35 years of exceptional service. The celebration was filled with excitement as various first responders were invited to experience helicopter rides. The atmosphere was further enhanced by a delectable barbeque spread courtesy of Michael’s Big City Steakhouse.

An important component of the Carbon County Fair not always recognized but would be missed if gone, are the vendors who show off their unique items for visitors to purchase. There are a lot of hand-crafted items that range from woodwork art to soap.

Two Carbon County residents and business owners had a pleasant surprise on Wednesday, August 9, at Washington Park in Rawlins, when they received awards from their colleagues who come from all over Carbon County.

Michael Lujan, owner of Michael’s Big City Steakhouse (Michael’s) in Rawlins, won Carbon County Businessperson of the Year. He was very surprised.

The Carbon County Fair concession stand is more like a restaurant, which serves amazing meals for a reasonable price. It is mostly meat and potato based, but there is some good food coming from those grills to the customers waiting outside the pickup window.

“If you don’t take the time to be healthy, disease will make time for you,” Dr. Catherine Coudray OMD (oriental medical doctor). “Prevention and maintenance is better than suffering from major health concerns. It is like owning a car. It is easier to do maintenance than major repairs.”

Coudray understands this well after practicing her form of medicine for 30 years.
