Leslie was born May 12, 1933, in Miami, Florida. As a child, she discovered her love for the ocean. She spent much of her childhood on her father’s boat “LiJack” where he taught her to fish for trophy fish and how to captain the boat. Leslie was often the skipper for her father. She was proud to call herself “Daddy’s Son”
She graduated from FSU with a Bachelors in Home Economics. She was a member of Chi-Omega Sorority. She worked at Burdines Department Store as a training counselor for several years. She fell into her lifelong career of teaching school in Florida and Colorado. Her specialty was teaching reading. She retired after teaching 32 years.
She met her lifelong partner (John Farr) in Boulder and they married in 1970 and raised 3 daughters (Susan, Linda, Lisa)
After retirement, she and John moved to Taos, NM and built a beautiful Adobe house. She was very proud to design their home. A few years later, they mutually decided to move to Encampment, WY, and built their official retirement home.
Leslie was a great seamstress and designed a lot of her own clothes. She enjoyed traveling throughout her life to Alaska, Canada, Europe, Argentina and Chile. She was an avid Skier in her Colorado days and even skied 100 days in one year. She was a member of the Encampment choir and the Encampment Dirt Diggers Garden Club, where she made a lot of friends.
She spent her final years with John at home enjoying Pepsi and John’s cooking.
Leslie is survived by her loving husband John, daughters Susan(Ted) Michalakes, Lisa Farr, granddaughters Hanna (Sean) Fahey, Arielle Liakat (Kip) and her first great-granddaughter Riley.
There will be a celebration of life on October 3rd 2026 10:30 am at the Encampment Opera House.
