The Carbon County Fairgrounds roared to life this weekend as cowboys and cowgirls from across the region competed in the annual PRCA Rodeo. The event, held in Rawlins, saw impressive performances across the board, but it was Jade Taton who emerged as the all-around cowboy, taking home $1,166 for his efforts in bareback riding and saddle bronc riding.
In the bareback riding event, Roedy Farrell took the top spot with an impressive 84.5 points on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Last Date, earning $1,216. Tucker Carricato came in second with 83 points, securing $921, while Taton placed third with 75 points, adding $663 to his all-around total.
Seth Peterson dominated the steer wrestling competition, clocking in at 3.8 seconds to win $1,302. Cody Pratt followed with a time of 4.7 seconds, earning $1,077. A three-way tie for third place between Kalane Anders, Ty Everson, and Hadley Jackson saw each cowboy taking home $628.
In team roping, Cam Jensen and Clayton Symons claimed victory with a time of 5.8 seconds, each earning $1,976. The duo of Clayton Van Aken and Cullen Teller finished second at 6.7 seconds, taking home $1,636 each.
Brady Love led the saddle bronc riding event with a score of 81 points on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Remember When, earning $1,383. Jade Taton added to his all-around tally with a fourth-place finish in this event, scoring 72 points and earning $503.
Tyler Boxleitner topped the tie-down roping event, finishing in 9.6 seconds and earning $1,322. Stratton Kohr and Pepper Rhyne tied for second place with identical times of 10.6 seconds, each taking home $980.
In barrel racing, Loralee Ward secured first place with a time of 17.66 seconds, earning $1,285. Rachel Huerkamp followed closely with 17.76 seconds, taking home $1,101.
Bull riding saw Riggen Hughes claim victory with 82 points on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Quick Draw, earning $1,281. No other riders managed to complete a qualified ride in this challenging event.
The total payoff for the Carbon County Stampede reached $40,556. The event featured stock provided by Triple V Rodeo, with Summit Pro Rodeo serving as the sub-contractor. Key personnel included rodeo secretary Tenisha Hoptowit, timers DeeDee Dickinson and Carole Martinez, and announcer Bob Edmonds. The event was also supported by bullfighters Zachary DeVol and Tyson Twitchell, clown and barrelman JW Winklepleck, flankman Eddy Lowndes III, chute boss Ty Hamaker, pickup men Cody Miller and Marc Dickinson, and music director Brandy Edmonds.
As the dust settled, participants and spectators alike celebrated a successful weekend of rodeo, with many already looking forward to next year’s event.
