The town of Riverside threw a party at 4 p.m. on August 19 at the town of Riverside’s Rick Martin Memorial Park. The day was perfect for a summer outing and locals took full advantage of what their town was offering. Town Clerk/Treasurer Jana Cook was serving drinks and sandwiches. A great variety of sandwiches came from the Saratoga Sandwich Shop. There was a great selection of cookies for dessert.
The crowd grew larger as it neared 5 p.m.
The bluegrass band High Plains Tradition was the reason. The band commenced at 5 p.m. interacting with the audience who were sitting nearby.
Residents and friends sat together and talked.
It was a good old-fashioned community get-together.
One feature of the park was new, the green bathrooms down the hill from the old bathrooms.
“The bathrooms were built with funds from Chokecherry, by a local contractor Brad Hebig”, Lee Ann Stephenson, resident of Riverside said.” They are also handicap accessible.”
They had just been installed two weeks prior. They were well-insulated and meant to face the Wyoming weather.
“It is made from ICF blocks,” Riverside Mayor Leroy Stephenson said. “Which stands for insulated Concrete Form. You stack them just like concrete blocks and then are filled with concrete giving it rigidity. They should face winters pretty well”.
Meanwhile, the former bathrooms have found new purpose as storage spaces.
The playground equipment is fairly new too, having been built the year before. Families with small kids were enjoying it while High Plains Tradition played in the background.
As the band played on, people started to dance.
The laughing and happy smiles were clear indicators of the attendees’ genuine delight in the festivities arranged by their town.
The event was a resounding success, leaving attendees thoroughly pleased.
It was a great party.
