Head coach Jack Cobb for the Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) High School football team could not help but be pleased with how his Rattler team played against the Dubois Rams on Saturday when they won 62 to 20.
“They have probably the best player in the state as far as 6-man goes in Wyatt Trembly,” Cobb said. “And we played far from perfect with seven or eight holding calls, which means we have to clean some things up. We didn’t play our best game, but we did play good. We ran for almost 490 yards.”
Seth Maxson had a huge day. He carried 20 times for a total of 387 yards and 5 touchdowns. Bridger Cozzens did well too, with 12 carries for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Quarterback Mason Jones completed three passes out of 9 attempts for 122 yards. He had 2 touchdowns.
Jandro Kunsman caught a 24-yard pass for a touchdown and Isiah Skalberg caught a pass and went 67 yards for a score.
There was balance by the players on defense with many players getting tackles but Maxson led with 12 and Cozzens followed with 11.
“Bridger had a good day with over 100 yards, but I swear he had some good runs that were called back for holding,” Cobb said. “I think he had a 100 yards called back.”
Cobb said he was pleased the Rattlers consistently stayed in control of the game. He feels the win gave the boys of the 2023 team confidence for this year. The Rattler coach knows he will probably be facing Dubois again this year because of how good they are.
“They aren’t going to go away because of this one loss,” Cobb said. “We won’t be able to take them for granted at all because of this win.”
Cobb said now the team has to learn from their mistakes, play as a team and stay humble.
“I am proud of the boys,” Cobb said.
The Rattlers play Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow High School (HEM) this Saturday in Hanna at noon.
